You could win a $25 Indigo Card…winter walk day tomorrow

The journey outside is a safe and healthy choice for students and parents. Join the walk this February 1 and provide your kids with the jumpstart they need to perform better in the classroom! Let’s encourage, educate, and learn together!

All students can participate in Winter Walk Day! Bussed students walk to their bus stop. Remote learners can walk from home. Families who need to drive can park five minutes away and walk the rest of the way (find your Drive to 5 Maps here: https://www.stswr.ca/walkzone/maps/).

Walking outside in cold air can reduce stress, increase serotonin (the happiness hormone), and even though the action may be slower, walking in snow leads to greater heart conditioning and increased endurance over time.

Will you be walking on Winter Walk Day? Register your child for a chance to win a $25 Indigo gift card today!

Reminders for the Week January 27

Reminders for the Week

We had another amazing week at Christ the King! This month, we are thrilled to be welcoming DRUMFIT to our school gymnasium! We are so excited this opportunity to engage in physical activity with some extra fun added in!  Grade 1-8 classes will be participating during their regular gym time throughout the month.

Keeping Warm

The snow and cold temperatures are on their way.  Please check that your child(ren) is wearing warm enough clothing to play outside for up to 40 minutes.  Playing outside is much more enjoyable when layers of warm clothing are warm.  It is also a great idea to have extra socks and mittens tucked away in their backpack for times when the snow is wet.

Winter Walk Day! Let’s see all Bobcat’s Participate! You can do it!

Winter Walk Day is February 1!

Walking and wheeling to and from school is great for the environment and it’s fun even in the winter. Winter Walk Day asks schools to celebrate students who walk to school by holding an event in your school community. STSWR will supply registered schools with walk day event ideas and posters; and all registered schools are entered into a draw for a bike or scooter rack!

All students (JK to Grade 12) can participate and register for a chance to win one of ten $25 Indigo gift cards! Bussed students can walk to their bus stop. Out of bounds students can drive and walk from a few blocks away. Online learners can walk at home. Schools and students can register at the respective links below.

An MYSP informs constituents of what the board intends to achieve, what its priorities are and how it plans to achieve them. It reflects the vision for the board including its overall purpose – mission statement – beliefs, and strategic directions. You can check out our board’s MYSP here: https://www.wcdsb.ca/mysp/ . Here is a video from our Director Tyrone Dowling explaining the MYSP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8PRrC1Hhgw

Reminders for the Week Jan 20

Reminders for the Week

It was so wonderful to welcome everyone back to school! We love the energy in our classrooms, hallways, and school yard and entered into January with a renewed focus on learning and connection! Thank you for your continued support as we continue through 2023!

Spectators at Games

Students that want to attend sporting events as spectators will need to be accompanied by an adult as we do not have supervision.

A BIG THANK YOU

Thank you to the families that are walking to school and also to those that are taking extra time to park safely along our streets. We care so much about the safety of our Bobcats and we are happy that you do too!

Bell Time

Our morning bell rings at 8:30 am and it is important for your child(ren) to arrive prior to this time. Supervision on the yard begins at 8:15 am (please do not send students before 8:15 am). Arriving at school on time allows students to experience positive interactions with others and participate more fully in learning activities. As well, it helps reduce classroom interruptions and distractions allowing teachers to focus on teaching lessons to all students. Let’s work together to avoid the last minute rush and eliminate the congestion in our front parking lot in the morning.

Mental Wellbeing Week

Next week, at Christ the King, we will be joining in the conversation for Mental Wellbeing Week. Students will be engaged in activities in their classroom and we will be celebrating Bell Let’s Talk day as well.
