It’s Time For FITGO Again!!

Our school is participating in the FITGO challenge from February 25- March 1, 2019!

We will be challenging other schools within our family of schools in a friendly competition that involves completing activities in the following focus areas:

  • Daily Physical Activity (DPA)
  • Healthy Bodies
  • Healthy Eating
  • Healthy Minds
  • Healthy Environment

What does this mean for you??  You may hear your child discuss classroom activities at home.  Also, as part of the challenge, students are encouraged to try the following activities at home:

  • Turn off your computer or TV and go for a walk together around the neighborhood.
  • Pack lunches that include fruits and vegetables.
  • Try to walk to and from school one day.
  • Dress appropriately to go outside for recess.

So let’s join in having some fun, friendly competition within our family of schools and celebrate being a Healthy School!

Watch us FITGOoooooo!!!!!!

First Term Report Cards

Today, your child will bring home their first Term Report Card which reflects the achievement in all subject areas from September 2018 until February 2019.   The Ontario Curriculum and the Provincial Report Card stress the importance of the roles of the teacher, student and parents/guardians in assisting your child to strive for and achieve the high level of achievement known as the provincial standard.  In keeping with the collaborative responsibilities of home and school, you are asked to complete page 3 and 4 (Response Form) of the term 1 report card and return it to the school by Tuesday, February 19, 2019.   Since this response form will be filed in your child’s OSR (Ontario Student Record) as a reflection of student achievement, your written comments should address the performance of your child.   We appreciate your help and support with this task.

Bag 2 School Fundraiser!

Do you have tidying up fever?  Wondering what to to with your old clothing and textiles? We have a solution!

Students, staff, and parents, work together to contribute previously enjoyed clothing and textiles that are then weighed and exchanged for cash at the current market rate. The items will be shipped overseas and sold as quality used clothing, boosting affordable clothing markets in developing countries. It’s a great way for our school to raise money for our new vegetable garden bed. Plus, it feels good to be green. The program teaches students about the importance of recycling and re-using, thereby fostering environmental awareness at a young age. On top of this, it makes a real impact by reducing the amount of textile waste in our landfills.

Bring your Bag 2 School by February 14th.

Donations will be accepted every day leading up to February 14th.  Your textiles can be brought to school between the hours of 8:15am-4pm.  Please, do not leave donations at the school doors after hours. If you would like to arrange a time to donate outside of school hours, please call the school and ask for Madame Fisk to arrange a time.

Thank-you for supporting CTK Eco-Warriors and fostering environmental awareness within our students.
