As Environment Canada has issued a two-day heat warning inclusive of tomorrow.

All logistics will resume and shift to our rain date which is Thursday, June 23rd with parks and times staying consistent.

Please read the following Important Information for Parents /Guardians of Students in Grades 7-12 — Region of Waterloo Public Health Immunization Catch-Up Clinics

Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, all primary and secondary students need to have proof of immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, meningococcal disease, pertussis and varicella (chickenpox). 

If your child was born in 2006 or later, they are also eligible to receive or complete their series of Hepatitis B and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines.

Enforcement of the Immunization of School Pupils Act is expected to resume next school year.  Students are being encouraged to catch-up on their vaccines now to avoid suspension when enforcement begins.

Public Health is offering clinics to help get students back on track with their vaccinations.  Many appointments are available in the month of June in both Cambridge and Waterloo locations.

If your child is in grade 7 to 12 this school year (2021/2022) and not up-to-date on their routine vaccines, you will have received a letter in the mail letting you know which vaccines are missing.

Ms Taillon and the students of Room 115  will be creating prayers and jokes of the day!!

The students in Grades 4 to 8 are preparing and looking forward to participating in our School Track and Field Meet on Monday, June 6, 2022, at St Benedict Catholic Secondary School.

All students will participate in 3 track /1 field event OR 2 track / 2 field events. To ensure our success for the day, we have a few reminders for students and families to bring the following items:

• A nutritional lunch and snacks in a cooler, if possible – please avoid sending any milk products (e.g., mayo as it may be sitting in the hot sun all day!)

• Plenty of water in non-breakable containers.

• Sunscreen is essential (kindly send a tube/bottle of sunscreen not aerosol).

• Blanket or towel to sit on or to cover up with.

• Track pants, sweatshirt, appropriate length shorts, t-shirt, wind pants and jacket, and suitable running shoes. (No spikes).

• Umbrella and/or hat for the sun – there is very little shade – students need to protect themselves from the sun. Sunglasses are recommended.

• Raincoat if the weather prescribes it.

• There is no concession booth for the students. There is no need to send any money with your child.

• Students are not permitted to leave the Track & Field meet at any time during the day or leave the designated area assigned to us.  This includes going to the plaza at lunch.

• There are washrooms indoors that will be designated for our students only and a supervisor will assist students with washroom visits.

• In between their events, students will be sitting in an assigned area with their class. We suggest bringing materials like books, cards, a sketch pad, or small travel games to entertain themselves. They are also encouraged to watch the events near their location and cheer on their peers.

• NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES (cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, video games, etc.)

• Parents are reminded not to park in front of the school. This area is reserved for patrons of the Library.

• Students will walk to track and back to the school.  Should a parent be on site to watch and would like to take their child home at the end of the meet – you must sign him/her out with a teacher (name & signature).  This will allow you to take your own child(ren) home. We cannot release friends to ride home with another family. Thank you for understanding.

We are also kindly reminding everyone that we are guests of St Benedict’s.

LOST AND FOUND ITEMS

Lost and found items have been laid out on a table in the hallway outside of the gym for the next few weeks. Classes will have the opportunity to view and claim lost items.  Any items left over will be donated to a clothing drive.  Any students who have lost any jewelry, keys or smaller personal items can check with the office!

A reminder to our Bobcat families of the following upcoming dates:

• Friday, June 3^rd  is a Professional Development Day for school staff. There is no school for students on this day.
• Monday, June 6^th  is our Grade 4 to 8 Track and Field Meet at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School. Students are asked to come to school prepared to participate for the day.
• Tuesday, June 7^th  to Friday, June 10^th Grade 6 EQAO testing will take place.
