Reminders for the Week

Reminders for the Week

What a fun and exciting day it will be for students and staff on the 31st! Classrooms will have Halloween activities, and the students are excited to be a part of all of this. The fun continues Monday night with Halloween Trick or Treating.

Wishing all the Bobcat families a spooky Halloween! Be safe and have fun!

Please see the information below so that you can stay caught up with what is happening at CTK!

We’re expanding!

As we continue to see growth in our student population at Christ the King, we are fortunate to add a teacher and class to our school enrollment. As a result, please note that we have been provided direction from the School Board to reconfigure Kindergarten classes to be compliant with the regulations set out by the Ministry of Education. With the addition of a new class, classroom teachers in Kindergarten will be better able to support all learners due to a decrease in class sizes. We know that change can be difficult, but we are fortunate for this new addition to our school.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Jennifer Vrpoljac who joined our Kindergarten team as an additional  Kindergarten teacher at CTK!

Spirit Wear: Christ the King: Due November 9th

Christ the King Spirit wear is now on sale through Pardon Promotions until November 9th. Please reference the sizing chart to ensure best fit for your child. All orders will arrive in advance of Christmas if you are hoping to give as a Christmas gift, and please make a note on the order if this is the case. (Please also note that these are Spirit Wear articles that are for purchase by families and is optional. The school has ordered t-shirts for all families who indicated this and they will be arriving soon)

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences

We are now in the process of scheduling our parent-student-teacher conferences to discuss the Student Progress Reports for Kindergarten to Grade 8.  These conferences are very important, as they are the first formal opportunity to discuss your child(ren)’s progress.

A paper copy form was sent home with the youngest or only in your family earlier this week.  Please choose a preferred time frame for your family’s interviews and return the form back to school with the youngest or only in your family by Friday, October 28th.  If you can’t make it on November 24th, please contact your child’s teachers directly to make alternate arrangements.

Emergency Drills

CTK had the remainder of the Emergency drills (lockdown and tornado) for the beginning of the school year. The students did an amazing job and the drills were very successful. These drills will be conducted in the Spring again. Congratulations, Bobcats!

Safety First

Please take some time to speak to your child about the difference between a trusted adult they can go to in case they need help, and stranger they should avoid. Also talk to your child about going home after school rather than “hanging out” so that parents/guardians know where their child is after school. In addition, parents should be monitoring their child’s online activity and ground rules for screen time should be applied.

Dress for the Weather

Please ensure your child is dressed for all types of weather. Our school goes outside outside in the cold, misty or light rain conditions to give students a break and some fresh air. Some students may still require a change of clothes. Please feel free to pack/send an extra set of clothes just in case it is needed and then the school will not need to call and interrupt your day for drier apparel.

Halloween Activities!

  • On Monday, October 31st, students are invited to celebrate Halloween by wearing black and/or orange OR their costumes.
  • Costumes with lots of props, pieces & accessories can be lost, broken or ruined at school.  Especially is if it a cold or wet day.  It’s best to save your good costumes for Trick or Treating.
  • If your kids choose to dress up, please be conscious of the type of costume they are planning on wearing to school.  There are no exceptions for violent or excessively scary costumes, students wearing / bringing weapons, or other inappropriate costumes Students in costumes that violate our Catholic values will need to call home for a change of clothing. If they are not sure – ASK! Masks that cover eyes are not permitted—use face paint instead! .  Inflatable costumes should be avoided as well for safety reasons.
  • Stickers, pencils, crayons are great Halloween treats to bring.  If you were thinking of bringing food treats, they must be store bought, wrapped, peanut, nut, sesame seed, walnut, pecan, cashew, pumpkin seed FREE
  • We do have multiple food allergies throughout the school, including those listed above.  This is why we cannot share homemade treats/cupcakes/cookies etc.  Homemade treats cannot be passed out and will be sent back home.  Thank you very much for your understanding.
  • We look forward to marking this holiday with our annual Halloween Parade – in person this year!, a dance-a-thon with tuck shop (proceeds will go towards Grade 8 graduation) and a fun change to our normal school routines!
  • Dance-A-Thon: CTK Student Council will be running a Halloween Treat Store at our Halloween Dance. Items sold will include: chips, chocolate bars, glow sticks, candy, juice, etc. All treats can be bought using tickets sold on CASH ON LINE (no cash will be accepted this day). If you need assistance in setting up your cash on line account, please call the office and Liz will assist you with this.
