We want to thank our amazing families and students for all of their help and support over the last two weeks!  THANK YOU for your help in making the return to learning at CTK a safe and enjoyable one so far!   Keep up the awesome work Bobcats!!

Masks and Physical Distancing:  Our students and staff are doing a fantastic job and overall have adjusted well to the use of masks and the need for physical distancing. We would ask that if possible to send an extra mask with your child in case they get soiled or wet during the day.   Staff will continue to give mask breaks to students by taking them outside as much as possible.   At recess, students may take their masks off as per the guidelines set out by Public Health.   Public Health has also stated that students and staff must maintain 1 meter apart inside the school and maintain a two-meter distance outside.  Please talk to your child and ask how they are doing with their mask breaks and how they are maintaining physical distancing while outside at recess.  Ask what kind of games they are playing outside and if they are doing their best to maintain their distance from others.  Many of our students are doing an excellent job at maintaining their 1 and 2-meter distance however, some seem to continually forget.  Please talk to your child and let them know that we are all in this together and that each of us has a responsibility to abide by all protocols during this pandemic.

Meet the Staff at CTK Virtually!  This Thursday, September 24th meet your child’s teachers and other important staff at CTK and get a sneak peak into your child’s class.  All videos will be posted to your child’s Google Classroom after school.  We can’t wait to let you see what we have been doing and learning at CTK over the past couple of weeks!

Nut Free School Environment:  We have several students and staff attending Christ the King with a severe allergy that can cause an anaphylactic reaction. We respectfully ask that you do not send food products that contain peanuts, peanut butter or nut products, remembering to check ingredients carefully.  WOW butter and other peanut substitutes are also not permitted.  Your understanding and cooperation are most appreciated.

Switching Learning Environments: Currently, families have two options for how your child can receive their education:

  1. Face-to-Face Learning at Christ the King.
  2. Remote Learning through St. Isidore.   St. Isidore has its own webpage and can be found at https://stisidore.wcdsb.ca/.

For those families that missed the original opt-in window for remote learning, the next chance to select St. Isidore or switch back to Face-to Face at Christ the King happens on September 24th to September 28th ( the date the change of class will take effect is October 13th).   It is only a 4-day window and the next opportunity to switch in or out after this will only be in November.  More details can be found at https://stisidore.wcdsb.ca/switching-learning-environments/

Fire Drills and Lockdown:   Planning for the 2020-2021 school year, procedures for conducting total evacuation fire drills and lockdowns must be aligned with physical distancing guidance provided by Public Health officials  This year, fire drills and lockdown drills will be scheduled and classes staggered.  Students will begin practicing evacuation procedures this week and will complete a total of 3 fire drills and 1 lockdown drill this fall.
