To start the school year students have been reminded of proper book care and library routines. Each class will visit the library learning commons for book exchange once a week. JK – Grade 3’s will take out 1 book at a time, and Grade 4 – 8’s can take out up to 2 books at a time.  Books can be borrowed for one week, however, students can ask for books to be renewed if they are still reading them.

You can help your child look after his/her library books by:

  • Creating a safe, consistent place in your home for your child to store his/her book.
  • Protecting books from liquid, food, pets, toddlers, and anything else that may result in damage.
  • Letting me know if a book is damaged so I can try to fix it.  In order to keep our books in their best shape, please do not attempt to repair books at home as I have special tools and tape to help restore our books!
  • Helping your child return his/her book on time. I recommend putting books in a clean plastic bag in your child’s backpack to help keep them safe from accidental lunchbox spills.

If a book does get damaged beyond repair, or if a book is lost, parents will need to either replace or pay for it. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the library technician at the school.

Please encourage your child to enjoy and take care of our library books and return them for more!
