Reminders for the Week – February 23, 2024

Reminders for the Week

“We can support one another and face every kind of challenge with courage and hope when we draw our strength from Jesus.” – Pope Francis

A Lenten Reflection…

Give up complaining, focus on gratitude

Give up harsh judgments, think kindly thoughts

Give up worry, trust divine Providence

Give up discouragement, be full of hope

Give up bitterness, turn to forgiveness

Give up hatred, return good for evil

Give up negativism, be positive

Give up pettiness, become mature

Give up jealousy, pray for trust.

We have six weeks to focus on Lent – a time to turn to God in all we do. As a daily reflection, we ask ourselves what we need to stop doing or start doing to be the person God has created to us be. We are called to uphold 3 pillars – to pray, to fast, and to give to those in need. Fasting can also be fasting from habits – not just food. God bless you all this Lenten Season.

Here are some Reminders:

Staffing Update

While Ms. Hicks and Ms. Skrzypek are off on a leave of absence, we welcome Ms. Scott and Ms. Wakeford respectively. We are excited to have you join, Christ the King, home of the Bobcats!

Public Health and Vaccinations

Please ensure that your child(ren)’s vaccinations are up-to-date or that an exemption has been filed with the Region of Waterloo Public Health. If they do not receive this information before TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., your child will be suspended from school starting Wednesday, March 27, as per Public Health.

Appeal for Gently Used Special Occasion Clothing

With special occasions such as First Communion, Confirmation, and Graduation approaching, this is often an expensive time for parents and not all families can easily afford the new clothing. If any families have nearly new condition formal wear that their children have outgrown, we ask that you consider donating this to the school.

Donations can be dropped off at the office. We will then be able to let students select what they like from the donated clothing and feel good on their special occasions.

With thanks for your consideration and support.
