Reminders for the Week – March 28

“In the Eucharist, you meet Jesus, share His life, feel His love; there you experience that His Death and Resurrection are for you.” – Pope Francis

Spring is officially here, and the Easter Season is upon us. This past weekend as we begin Holy Week with Palm Sunday, we recall Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and the welcoming and waving of palm branches by the people. Palm Sunday is a reminder to us to welcome Jesus into our lives … into our hearts and into our homes. Today we celebrated Holy Thursday with the stations of the cross presentation. The Stations of the Cross refer to a series of depictions of Christ’s journey. They represent key moments in the trial, crucifixion and burial of Jesus. Stations o the Cross, or the Way of the Cross, have been celebrated by Roman Catholics for centuries, typically right before Easter. Wishing you a reflective and prayerful Easter Weekend. Please visit the St. Patrick Church website for Holy Week Mass times.

Here are some Reminders:

Staffing Update

Ms. Lane will continue to be off for the remainder of the year for her maternity leave. We wish her and her family all the best during this special time. Ms. Scott will continue to fill in for Ms. Lane until the end of the year.

What is the Holy Triduum

The Triduum is the three days commemorating the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Holy Thursday is the day of the last supper, and it was also the Frist Holy ‘Communion, as it was the first time Jesus turned bread and wine into his Body and Blood.

Good Friday is when we remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus. The day sounds bad, but it is called ‘good’ because we remember that Jesus loved us so much that he was willing to die for us.

Holy Saturday is a vigil day, a day of waiting and watching for something to happen It is the day before Easter when Jesus lay in the tomb.

Easter Sunday is a festive Liturgy, and continues from the Easter Vigil. Often we celebrate this day with beautiful flowers like white lilies, wear special outfits and may have a chocolate or two.

Throughout this week students will have the opportunity to participate in activities and discussions in their classrooms.

Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Good Friday, March 29th or Easter Monday, April 1st.

Lost and Found Items

With the warmer weather here, many students have left their coats, hats, and mitts on the yard. They have been collected and placed in the Lost & Found for students to pick up. If you child is missing any items, please have them check the lost and found as items.

Reminders of the Week – March 22nd, 2024

“During Lent, let us find concrete ways to overcome our indifference.” – Pope Francis

As we return from what we hope was a rejuvenating March break for all, we’re delighted to welcome the warmth and promise of Spring (Tuesday)! Although we are still seeing colder temperatures and hints of snow. Spring gives us hope for the sunshine and gives us energy and encourages us all to get outdoors and enjoy nature and fresh air. It’s a time of renewal, growth, and new beginnings. We hope everyone is ready to dive back into our learning with enthusiasm and energy. Let’s embrace this season together as the flowers bloom and the days grow longer. We have accomplished so much through this past fall and winter, and now SPRING is here! We are grateful for the many great days of learning ahead. Welcome back to another exciting chapter in our school community.

Here are some Reminders:

Public Health and Vaccinations

Please ensure that your child(ren)’s vaccinations are up-to-date or that an exemption has been filed with the Region of Waterloo Public Health. If they do not receive this information before TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., your child will be suspended from school starting Wednesday, March 27, as per Public Health.

Change in Clothing for Students

The condition of our yard is not great. As always, at about this time of the year, our yard becomes very muddy and many parts are unusable. Although we are looking forward to some significant improvements, we do need to make sure that students are using common sense and staying out of the worst areas. It is also a good idea to bring a change of clothing to leave at school in case of an emergency. Outdoor shoes are a must as well! Please make sure your children are making good clothing choices when they come to school so that we can focus on the learning that needs to happen and not worry about interrupting parents to bring extra clothing.
