Reminders for the Week:

It was an exciting week as we celebrated our Early Childhood Educators, our Librarians and our Bus Driver this week.

The staff and students of Christ the King School would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our Early Childhood Educators, Ms. Lisi-Smith and Ms. Tavares, for Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.  It is often said that “It takes a big heart to work with a small child.”  We are so thankful for your efforts with our youngest learners.  Our students in Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten learn and grow so much, thanks to your efforts with them, day-in and day-out.  Your endless patience, kindness and enthusiasm with our youngest learners helps to create an environment that they want to be in, that their parents trust, and that builds the foundation for a wonderful educational experience for years to come.  Everyone here at CTK would like to say a huge THANK YOU again to Ms. Lisi-Smith and Ms. Tavares!

The staff and students of Christ the King School would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all our Bus Driver on “National Bus Drivers Day”.  You are sometimes the first smiling adult a child sees each morning and the last before they get home.  You always brave the weather to get our kids safely where they need to be, while being a shining example for students as you do it!  You are truly superheroes and we want to say THANK YOU!

The staff and students of Christ the King School  would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all our Librarians & Librarian Technicians on “Canadian Library Workers Day”.  From cataloging so many books, story time with classes, and supporting schools with technology and other resources, we say thank you to all of you. You are always ready to lend a helping hand. You all play valuable roles in our schools. Thank you again for all that you do!

Here are some Reminders:

Halloween Activities: Tuesday Oct. 31st

  • On Friday, October 31st, students are invited to celebrate Halloween by wearing black and/or orange OR their costumes.
  • Students will have an opportunity to participate in our Dance and our Basket Raffles (Cash-on-Line purchase)
  • Costumes with lots of props, pieces & accessories can be lost, broken or ruined at school.  Especially is if it a cold or wet day.  It’s best to save your good costumes for Trick or Treating.
  • If your kids choose to dress up, please be conscious of the type of costume they are planning on wearing to school.  There are no exceptions for violent or excessively scary costumes, students wearing / bringing weapons, or other inappropriate costumes Students in costumes that violate our Catholic values will need to call home for a change of clothing. If they are not sure – ASK! Masks that cover eyes are not permitted—use face paint instead! .  Inflatable costumes should be avoided as well for safety reasons.
  • Stickers, pencils, crayons are great Halloween treats to bring.  If you were thinking of bringing food treats, they must be store bought, wrapped, peanut, nut, sesame seed, walnut, pecan, cashew, pumpkin seed FREE
  • We do have multiple food allergies throughout the school, including those listed above.  This is why we cannot share homemade treats/cupcakes/cookies etc.  Homemade treats cannot be passed out and will be sent back home.  Thank you very much for your understanding.
  • We look forward to marking this holiday with our annual Halloween Parade – in person this year!, a dance-a-thon with tuck shop (proceeds will go towards Grade 8 graduation) and a fun change to our normal school routines!
  • Dance-A-Thon: CTK Student Council is running Raffle Baskets at our Halloween Dance. All tickets can be bought using tickets sold on CASH ON LINE (no cash will be accepted this day). If you need assistance in setting up your cash on line account, please call the office and the office will assist you with this.

New Brightspace  Parent & Guardian Portal: Brightspace Parent & Guardian is a tool for authorized parents and guardians to see specific components of their child’s course, including the Activity Feed, shared Portfolio artifacts, graded assessments and feedback as well as upcoming Assignments and Quizzes. This helps parents engage with young learners and maintain awareness of upcoming work. It is not a parent-teacher communication tool—it’s a window into the classroom. Parents automatically have an account based on the parent details you provided when you registered your child with WCDSB. Reference  the Parent Portal Letter for instructions on how  to access your account.

WCDSB will be co-hosting a parent webinar on Brightspace for Parents and Guardians on Oct 24th 7:30pm
